Provençe From An Artists’ Point Of View - Guided Tour of Provence France

I had the most wonderful trip to the South of France, experiencing “Provence from an Artists’ Point of View.” It was everything I had imagined it to be.

Marti Schmidt was the warmest, most attentive, knowledgeable and competent guide you could hope for. She welcomed me to a quaint village in Gaujac and a B&B called the Rhone Retreat, which was the perfect home base. From there Marti introduced me to historical Avignon, the small town of Uzes, Isle sur la Sorgue, Pont du Gard and the wonderful flavors of each place we visited. Literally! From the small restaurant where Marti’s acquaintances opened their kitchen and prepared a delicious meal, to the action packed cafe’s and decadent patisseries in Aix-En-Provence. Marti also introduced me to local artisans and took me to some of her favorite shops, tucked away from the mainstream, always assisting me with communicating and navigating. One of my favorite excursions; the Markets! There is one in every village and they offer fresh veggies, herbs, wine, cheese, art and more . . . there is so much history and so much to see, I can’t begin to describe it all.

Experiencing the subtleties of Provence through Marti’s eyes made my trip very special. I will be going again and I highly recommend Marti Schmidt as your host.

I am an artist living in the North Ga Mts. I first met Marti in a Young Harris Ga art gallery about 40 yrs ago. We shared the love of art nature an cloths shopping, so we became sister/friends very quickly! Our first trip to France was 7 yrs ago. We met in Atlanta an flew to Paris then to Marseille (sp?). Excitement filled our hearts as we drove to Gaujac. I was blown away by the beauty of France an especially Rhone Retreat.
We listened to beautiful French music as We drove to nearby villages for shopping at Saturday markets. We ate at French Cafes. We drank lovely wines and expensive coffee. We both love impressionistic painters such as Van Gogh, so we were excited to be in the areas that they worked. Marti an l have traveled to France 3 times. Each time we explored new places and returned to places we love such as Avignon. I am so fortunate to have traveled France with my dear sister/friend Marti. I look forward to future adventures!
